Insurance Studies
The NMSU Finance Department offers the only insurance studies program
in the mountain states region. This program is renowned for its
highly qualified faculty and strong industry support. Support
through the Insurance and Risk Management Center allows us to provide
our students with a variety of benefits and career opportunities not
typically found in other business programs.

From the day the student joins the insurance program, he or she will
be assigned an individual advisor with insurance industry experience and
connections.
Students who join the insurance program become eligible for numerous
internship opportunities in the insurance field. During the internship,
the student will acquire valuable, real-world experience and can earn
academic credit as well.
The IFSC offers scholarships to many of the most deserving insurance
students. These scholarships are offered in addition to any other
financial aid for which a student may be eligible.

take specialized coursework in insurance related topics. These

The Insurance and Financial Services (IFSC) in the College
of Business is dedicated to supporting students, faculty and
industry in the pursuit of knowledge as it relates to the field
of insurance. IFSC facilitates interaction between students and
industry primarily through scholarships and internship programs.
The center also promotes research on issues relevant to the
insurance industry in the mountain states region.
Support from the IFSC has allowed the NMSU College of Business to
secure a premier insurance faculty with outstanding records in both
academia and industry. The faculty is committed to making the NMSU
insurance studies program the finest program of its type in the Southwest.
